13. Outstanding Saint Louis pair of bronze figures of women carrying baskets on their heads. Two very fine bronzes of women carry Saint Louis miniature upright bouquets in baskets on their heads. While the figures have different characteristics, the miniature paperweights on their heads were obviously created to match. Each bouquet contains a central ruby flower with a six-pointed star cane in the center. In each bouquet, the central flower is encircled by a Persian blue blossom with a yellow center, a white blossom with a ruby center and an amber blossom. Each miniature paperweight is cut with allover geometric faceting. The women in these pieces are believed to represent France and one of her colonies. One figure holds her skirt while she walks. The other carries a water jug. These exquisite bronze statues were possibly created as a special presentation piece for a diplomat or ambassador. They represent a rare and beautiful marriage of bronze and glass. Each bronze piece is inserted into a graduated white marble base. "A pair of bronze statues of women, one apparently representing France and the other Algeria or Morocco, carrying baskets on their heads which contain miniature, faceted upright bouquets of the utmost delicacy in clear glass. A charming idea beautifully carried out."–The Encyclopedia of Glass Paperweights. (See Annual Bulletin of the Paperweight Collectors' Association (1992), p. 10; The Encyclopedia of Glass Paperweights, p. 120; Sotheby's November 1, 1984 sale, lot 182) Height of each statue with stand 7 3/8". $4000—6000

14. An excellent matching set of Whitefriars/Arculus tumblers with a concentric arrangement of complex cogs, in pink, ruby, white, cobalt blue and powder blue, set in the base. Height of each tumbler 3 3/4", diameter at base 2 1/2". $800—1100

15. A rare and excellent pair of matching Whitefriars/Walsh-Walsh candlesticks with a concentric arrangement of complex cog and quatrefoil canes, in pink, turquoise, powder blue, yellow and white, in the base. A fancy double handled stem is mounted on each base. (See Old English Paperweights, pp. 112—113) Height of each candlestick 7 1/4". $3750—4500

16. Very nice Saint Louis latticinio decanter, a Persian style, with a flared bottle attached to a bowl-shaped base. Two trumpet-shaped sections of swirling white latticinio have been sandwiched together to create the fitted stopper. A pink, white and blue spiral filigree torsade decorates the piece where the bottle meets the base, at the mouth of the bottle and on the stopper. Height 13". $3000—5000

17. Rare and excellent Baccarat engraved millefiori glass, the flared cup, engraved with graceful stems of leaves decorated with complex bull's-eye, arrow, cog, fortress, quatrefoil, six-pointed star and whorl canes, in cobalt blue, powder blue, salmon, ruby, cadmium green and white. The bottle is set in a silver stem decorated with flowers and ornate patterns. Silver hallmark on bottom of foot. "Decoration ranges from the simple to the elaborate and the objects are as attractive as they are practical."–A Collector's Guide to Paperweights. (See Baccarat: Paperweights and Related Glass, 1820—1860, No. 54; A Collector's Guide to Paperweights, p. 56) Height 5 7/8". $1800—3000
